Denmark is a nation of enthusiasts and collectors. Collectors, that is, who are more than willing to share their interests with others. So all in all, there are more than 850 different museums and collections to choose from in Denmark. And here in Billund, we have some of the very best, including for example Karensminde Agricultural Museum, the Egtved Girl and even an old-fashioned mead brewery.

Karensminde Agricultural Museum
Billund Museum is responsible for several museums in the area. Among others, Karensminde, an active agricultural museum where visitors step back in time and experience life in the country in the 1930s and '40s.

Mead making is probably the world's oldest brewing tradition and in Billund, lies the country's largest mead brewery. An exceptional and fascinating attraction, which might be more fun for adults than for children... (but that's OK now and again!).

In 1370 BC a young woman was buried in an oak coffin. Her well-preserved remains were discovered in 1921 and christened the Egtved Girl. A burial mound has been reconstructed above her grave and the small museum built in her honour also displays replicas of her clothing, jewellery and belt buckle.

Bindeballe købmandsgård
Bindeballe Købmandsgård was founded in 1897 as a general store and is now a living museum run by shopkeeper Reinholdt Jensen, who acquired the business in 1972. Several local specialities can be bought, including Bindeballe Bjesk, bitters and aquavit, and the museum itself is well worth visiting.

Vejle Museum of Art
Vejle Museum of Art reopened in 2006 after major extension and refurbishment. The museum mainly contains Danish works dating from the early 20th century to the present day, spanning from classic modernism through pre-COBRA to contemporary art.
