Denmark is famed for its many galleries and craft shops, where artists and designers display their talents. We have selected a couple of examples, but you should also check under 'museums' for further information.

Hapa is a wonderful gift shop, located in a beautifully renovated former farm. Besides lots of arts and crafts items, small ornaments and bric-a-brac, the shop sells special ales, wines and delicacies, and there is also a small gallery which is quite unique. Galleri Guldager Dreams are like mirages, which only seldom become reality. You can dream of far-away places, worlds of fantasy and experience, and still wake up with firm ground beneath your feet.

In 1968, Brande invited seven Danish artists to decorate the gable ends of 23 of the town's buildings. The result was a colourful series of enormous works of art, 17 of which can still be seen. Well worth a visit. |
